About Us

Welcome to Habibi.

Where food is made with love.

In 2002, Manal Timraz, a Palestinian had a vision of bringing a little taste of her homeland, Palestine, here. Habibi was born in June 2003 and since then has gone from strength the strength. The menu was chosen by Manal to represent food from her homeland and the arabic countries surrounding Palestine. Using her mother and grandmother's recipes, Manal has bought her lovingly home-cooked style into a comfortable arabic-style restaurant setting. Everything in Habibi has been sourced by Manal from countries such as Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Syria, Jordan and of course her beloved homeland, Palestine. She sourced local handicrafts and supported many small struggling businesses. In 2006, another vision was realised with the creation of the Bedouin tent which was the first Bedouin tent built in the UK and it created another 60 seats for the busy restaurant. Manal wanted to bring the beauty of the indigenous bedouins of Palestine and the Middle East to a gloomy garden in Far Gosford Street, evoking the feeling of far away lands with a chilled out vibe. She wanted to bring colour to the garden and protect the customers from the inclement British weather with a traditional tent centred with a fire pit where you can often find people sitting around, smoking sheesha and drinking mint or sage tea. Manal's vision has been realised with Habibi drawing visitors from many different cultures under one roof. She wanted to bring a taste of her homeland to Coventry, and has successfully managed to put Habibi and Palestine on the map.
